The Research Centre was established to research into the materials used by designers, art practitioners, printers, and conservators. It now has a broad focus on science as it relates to art, design, fashion and communication.
Within the Centre, individuals are currently undertaking research into materials, conservation, colour imaging and document security.

HSB1 Heat Sealer
This equipment is used for sealing polymer films, or polymer coated substrates such as paper and aluminium foil. The sealing jaws are Telfon® coated to prevent sticking and the sealing area is 20 x 300mm. It is operated via a simple foot control, and the operational variables are temperature, pressure and dwell time.
